Greetings and howdy to you! If you're here, perhaps you're seeking more information about a posed newborn session with me, Sarah! I'm super excited you're here because as a Houston Newborn Photographer, one aspect of my job that I truly look forward to is blogging my sessions. You see, this gives me a chance to show you my favorite images from each session, explain my creative process, and also write about the memorable moments with my clients. 

For instance, today's posed newborn session features some of my favorite colors, especially for a brand new, squishy newborn baby girl. Teal, turquoise, blue or green are an adorable color scheme because they create unique baby portraits. While pink is a typical newborn color, I urge parents to let me style a session that is not the norm; this is to ensure your combinations are customized to reflect timeless, classic, and beautiful portraiture.

When this sweet couple first came to my office for their in person consultation, they told me how they met, what they do for a living, and even about the first time they saw baby girl in the ultrasound and the joy of hearing her heartbeat for the first time. As a mama myself, I identify with these feelings, so when posing you during the parent portion of our time together, I like to think about the emotions surrounding meeting your baby. The slight anticipation, feeling the weight of their body in your hands, holding them close, breathing in their scent, admiring their perfect features. These moments are the ones you'll want to remember, so my parent posing is often very laid back and focuses on you interacting with your little one.

This beautiful baby girl is over 9 pounds and squishy as can be. She came to my studio, located in Northwest Houston, when she was 13 days new and she slept wonderfully for me. She loved to be wrapped and adored the white noises playing in the background. Being held by her parents was probably her favorite part, but that's just because she knows who she belongs to, ha!

Greetings and good afternoon to you! Happy Friday, y'all! As always, thanks for stopping by to see an absolutely precious new life. There's something unexplained about newborn portraits in the sense where it is a precious time; baby has just arrived, and they're so fresh, new, and ever so curly. Many parents ask, "When is a good time to photograph baby?" My answer: 7-10 days old is my preference, though I do take their sessions up to 14 days, and sometimes even 18 or so if needed. 

For today's sessions, let's showcase this adorable deep teal, burgundy and navy blue session's color scheme. As a Houston Newborn Photographer, my favorite aesthetic is color: there is a world of vibrant hues that look impeccable against your baby's skin and they truly make for remarkable and unique images. At the same time, however, I strive for your final product to be classic and timeless.  Here are some of my favorite images from my time with this handsome hunk!

Baby Robert came to my studio, located in Northwest Houston, when he was about 11 days old. His mama booked during her second trimester, which made scheduling a breeze. Upon arrival, he slept beautifully for me and barely made a peep. I don't think I even saw his eyes, but I adore his long lashes and perfectly curly self. 

After this stunning royal blue, we moved on to a bucket and super cute crate. I like floor props because they keep baby nice and snug and safe, but also allow me to use neat items like vintage buckets or antique quilts. I love shopping for new items because having a huge variety to select from is greatly important to me. 

This vibrant teal is everything to me! This, without a doubt, is one of my favorite colors to use and I love it on boys or girls - basically, so vibrant and fresh and gorgeous! 

All collections also include macro details; these are those unforgettable up close shots of baby's eyelashes, lips, profile, hands and their precious little tootsie toes.

Dapper Little Dude's First Professional Photos | Newborn Photography

A brand new baby. As a Houston Newborn Photographer, this makes my heart soar. Photographing the most tiny of clients is truly a joy. The details, styling, and spending the morning  cuddling a sweet little baby is one of my favorite aspects of baby photography. The customized sessions cater to parents seeking a variety of colors, poses, and props. For example, for this cherub's session, we used navy blue, tan, grey and cream. I provide everything you need, except the baby. This includes vintage floor props such as buckets, bowls, or crates. I also provide the wooden floors you see and backdrops to ensure the final product is coheisve with the work you see in my portfolio. I also have a vast array of bonnets, headbands, and organic wraps to adorn you baby's face. While props are minimal, such as the set ups seen here, they are also classic. 40 years from now you want the images to still have timeless yet soulful feeling.

For my time with baby boy, he loved to be wrapped! The wrapping is pretty nifty because it reminds you baby of being in the womb; it helps them "curl" up and feel safe during our session. For 9 months, your baby grew in your belly, so this reminds them of all that they know. A warm room and full tummy makes baby happy, too! This little guy did make me work, though I am very happy with his portraits as they're vintage, rustic, and the light fills his face to highlight his chubby cheeks, button nose, and little lashes.

For the family portion of his newborn session, his parents chose to not participate, so our focus was sibling with baby. While I do include family images in all of my collections I offer, I also understand sometimes parents may not feel photo ready. No worries! That just means more newborn portraits for you. Regardless, I do encourage sibling shots at the very least. Big Brother simply stole my heart! During the session, he sat with me while I posed little brother; he told me all about his teachers at pre-school and we sang some fun songs together, like "The Wheels on the Bus," haha! Big sister told me all about her soccer games and how her team won a game that past weekend. Meeting these sweet children was truly an honor and my heart melted while working with them. The innocence of them is simply pure.
