The best time to visit for your little one’s first professional portraiture session is at 5-9 days old, however, there are options up to 60 days old for parents who have missed the first 14 days of life. The studio welcomes many ages and offers flexibility session options based on Baby’s age.

 

Sarah’s Houston Newborn Baby Portrait Studio is centrally located in Uptown inside the 610 loop. Specializing in the custom art of posed newborn photography, Sarah offers creative, unique, yet timeless works of baby art. Cozy wrapping, macro detailed photos, and squishy bean bag posing creates a diverse gallery parents are sure to treasure.

• Sessions are available by appointment only, though there is availability seven days per week. Studio hours include Monday - Friday from 6:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. and Saturday and Sundays from 9:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.

• All scheduling is streamlined through the online booking page. Clients select their date, time, and package while also fulfilling their contract and deposit.

Adorable Fishing Set Up for Posed Baby Photography

Welcome, friends! Today's blog post is especially helpful since many parents ask about bringing in special props from their homes. Sometimes, for instance, when a couple is expecting their first baby they receive sentimental items from friends at work, loved ones, and even grandparents, too. Moreover, parents will ask my studio policy on items from home. Have no fear: I am happy to incorporate your props in a manner that still reflects my rustic, natural, and timeless baby images.

Gone Fishing at 6 Days New

Darling Daniel, seen below, is a Baby Plan Membership client at Sarah Borchgrevink Photography! His sweet parents live right down the street from me, just outside of Cypress, TX. My newborn studio is the perfect fit for them because I have not only photographed many of their friends, I am super close to them so it made traveling a breeze. Daniel is their first baby and has brought much joy and love to their family! I am really looking forward to photographing his first year of life. Nevertheless, when booking their posed session, we chatted about styling and things Mom likes. She asked if I happened to have a fishing setup for newborn boy photos. I explained I did not, but I am happy to order something new as a surprise to Dad. Dad, you see, really likes to fish and here in the south it's something many men enjoy, a tradition passed down from father to son. 

Nicholas | 6 Days Fresh

Baby boy Nicholas was a complete dream and joy to photograph! His parents booked a natural light, outdoor maternity session with me as well as a full posed newborn session. They're super kind and sweet! Like Daniel's session, previewed above, he is their first bundle of joy! Mom relayed a friend made a crochet fisherman set up for them, so I was absolutely happy to incorporate this into their bucket shot. I pair items from home with my own favorite floor props, such as a galvanized bucket, and dreamy, organic textiles, like the blue wrap seen below.

The tackle box is especially adorable, such a fun way to showcase all things boy.

Once you arrive, we immediately feed baby and go into the session. I will guide you and give you plenty of direction. I have a very hands on approach to newborn photography and am comfortable leading the session so you know exactly what to expect.

Each collection comes with a flokati rug set up. Here is where we do the potato pose. Baby's love this and being wrapped keeps them so happy! Wrapping is a huge part of my newborn style and I urge to ensure this is a good fit for your aestetic preferences.

First Floor Prop: White Classic Bowl

My studio is filled to the brim with classic floor props. I generally find these at antique stores. They lend a vintage tone to your session and ensure the final result is timeless.

FLOOR PROP OPTION TWO: WOODEN CRATE

The second floor prop can be seen here. As always, if there is a certain floor prop you really like let me know so I may pull this item for your session.

Tootise wrap is the third style of wrapping you'll see in my sessions.

MACRO IMAGES | UP CLOSE + SUPER SWEET DETAILS

The macro portion is always lovely because these up close details are the characteristics that are unique to your baby. These can be lips, nose, ears, toes, hands, etc.

BEAN BAG POSING 

The bean bag portion are the naked, squishy poses you may be familiar with. Each baby likes to be posed differently, however, the following images are the main poses I do with each baby. 

Booking Your Session

A $100 non-refundable retainer and contract secure your appointment on the calendar. These are due immediately. The retainer is applied to any collection of your choice.  Payment plans are available upon request. Your final balance is due the day before your session.

How You Receive Your Digital Images

Following your portrait session, I retouch your images. These are completed in 10-12 business days. You receive a password protected and private gallery that is available to you for immediate download and sharing of your images. Your final gallery will give instructions on how to select the prints that come in your collection. If you are interested in additional products, we may set up an ordering appointment.

Additional Helpful Newborn Session Details:

• I provide all props, accessories, and items for your session. You just bring the baby.
• Studio is located in NW Houston near Barker Cypress & 290 -20 minutes outside the 610 loop
• Sessions take place in the first 14 days of life; my preference is 4-10 days, however.
• Sessions take place 7 days per week, starting at 10 AM
• Collections include high resolution digital files for you to download, share and enjoy
• I am fully vaccinated and insured. I also am formally trained in the custom art of newborn photography and have taken several workshops on newborn handling and safety in additional to professional training for posing, lighting, styling and post processing of your images.

The  session process is simple: you arrive, I photograph the session, retouch the images, and then 10 business days later you receive a private gallery in which you may immediately download and share your gorgeous images! They’re yours to print, share online, etc. Your loved ones may also download the images, too. This is a great option for grandparents who may not live in Houston. I do offer professional prints/products if you’re interested in them, but there is no minimum order. I provide a stress free, easy going experience for new parents.

My Houston Newborn & Baby Portrait Studio is located in Northwest Harris County near 290/Barker Cypress with convenient access to all major highways including 610 loop, U.S. 59, U.S. 90, U.S. 290, Texas 99, Texas 146, Texas 225, Texas 249, Texas 288, Hardy Toll Road, Westpark Tollway and Beltway 8. As a professional newborn photographer, my sessions take place 7 days per week between the hours of 9 AM - 4 PM.
