Howdy there! Thanks for stopping by my blog! I'm so happy you're here. Today I am previewing a beautiful family who I had the pleasure of documenting. If you follow my work, you may know I have an obsession with all my sessions beginning during golden hour; this is when the light is most soft and magical. It's golden. It's perfect. It's everything we need for a magnificent session. 

I'd love to introduce the J family to you! They're a fantastic bunch and I really enjoyed my time with them. Mom happens to be an extremely talented photographer, so when she called me to book a session I did a little dance. It was so fun to design their session because it was a meeting of the souls; both her and I knew exactly what the other person was describing. As you can see, their session is so fun! It's the perfect collection to showcase who they are. I'd also like to thank Mom because she lent me her phenomenal lens - the Canon 200 mm f/2.0L. It's the size of a newborn baby but my goodness I enjoyed using it! Here are my favorite images from their session. Thanks for viewing! :-)

Howdy, folks! I hope you're having a wonderful Friday and gearing up for a spectacular weekend. Spring Break is almost upon us. My little girl, Emma, is really looking forward to a week home from school and I'm excited about several upcoming shoots. For example, as a Cypress photographer, I document all things bump, baby and family. This is what makes my heart sing and being there to capture your family milestones is beyond rewarding. Thank you for entrusting me! It's an honor.

This morning I'm previewing one of my very first clients. They took a chance on me three years ago and have stood by me as I've grown and expanded my business. They're sweet as can be and I have nothing but love for them. For their session, I had them meet me in The Woodlands, an area about 30 minutes north of Houston. This location is fantastic! It features a classic bridge that works as a wonderful focal point and it also has lovely evening light. It's warm, golden, magical - everything you need to encompass your family. Kaitlyn's Peppa Pig Inspired 3rd Birthday Photo Shoot in The Woodlands

Happy Third Birthday, K! Check out this Peppa Pig inspired session. 

Perhaps one of the best parts of children's photography is that anything is possible. This, of course, includes a child's favorite cartoon character, such as my latest third birthday session that's on the blog today! Moreover, designing a session around a child's preferences is special because you will look back fondly at the images and remember this time in his or her life.In case you're unfamiliar with this popular children's cartoon, visit Peppa pig here. She's quite cheeky and little ones love her. You may remember seeing K's cousin's on the blog, too at their watermelon cake smash session. That's another aspect of photography I truly treasure: meeting your families and getting to know you.

For Katelyn's third birthday photos, we opted to design a session that portrays both child and family photography; this is because I encourage parents to participate in the session. As a mama, I know that when you're at home with your little ones, more often than not, one parent is holding the camera and it's hard to have everyone together in the same photo. Because of this, it's always nice to take a few moments and capture everyone together.

For K's birthday session, I had Mom and Dad meet me in The Woodlands Texas at a lovely location featuring tree lined paths, easy parking and a bridge. The fall/winter colors even came through for some of the session, which is a big deal for Texas, ha! 

As you can see, I kept the posing very natural and easy going. Each family dynamic differs and sometimes the session is a little more composed and other times it's more free play. That's something I enjoy doing: embracing the spirit of your family and capturing you as you are. It's nice to also have a variety of images from tickles and big smiles to everyone interacting together. Sometimes I'll have you all look at the camera and smile and other times I'll have you focus on your child and engage him or her. Be who you are! These portraits are connections to your past and as time fleetingly moves, you'll look back on these images and remember who you were.
