This morning, I spent some time with my camera and my little ones, Emma and Lucy. Lately, I've been spending a lot of time working, and I haven't had as much one-on-one time with the kiddos as I would like. While I do love working as a full time freelance photographer, there are weeks I take on a few too many projects and have to remind myself to space them out a wee bit more. :-)
Anyway, this morning Emma, my eldest, invited a neighborhood friend over, and so we filled up the pool, grabbed some toys, and found our swim suits in the bottom of the laundry hamper (as well...like any mommy I sometimes get behind on laundry, haha). We only had an hour or so before Lucy's morning nap, but they had a lot of fun splashing and enjoying the cool water. It's so humid today in Houston, and the small pool is a nice way for them to cool off without having to pack up and go to a neighborhood pool.
After playing in the pool, Lucy did a little bit of exploring. She also ate snack outdoors since I did not want to leave Emma and her friend unsupervised. Lucy is pretty fond of bananas as you can see, haha! Finally, I ended photographing their morning with Lucy as she prepared for nap time. Two hours later, she's still sleeping, and I have caught up on work!
I didn't have a chance to do many individual shots of Emma and she wasn't feeling like being posed. That's totally fine! There's always next time and I firmly believe there is no point in forcing children into anything they're not happy with (at least in the photography world...cleaning up her room is another story, haha!)
Thanks for viewing a peek into our morning!
