Hey, you! Thanks for stopping my blog today! Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Sarah. I'm a mother to three sassy little girls, wife to an awesome dude, and also a chase of golden light, aka a photographer. Documenting squishy newborn babies, family milestones and radiant baby bumps truly makes me tick. There's nothing like spending the morning with an expecting couple or new family as we celebrate you. We're telling your story. Because that's what a portrait session at Sarah Borchgrevink Photography is: modern storytelling, crafted with love. When this beautiful mother to be contacted me to book her natural, light outdoor maternity session and her posed newborn portraits, I was simply over the moon. These are my favorite to photograph! I designed a session showcasing ethereal golden light and all the love encompassing bringing home a new baby. We chose a location in Northwest Houston that features a natural setting; over hanging oak trees, flowers, and tall grass make for an organic and timeless feel. Here are some of my favorite images from my time with this sweet couple!

Mama is simply stunning! The golden light radiates around her and her baby bump is simply perfect. 

Of course, I always ensure there is plenty of time so you may change outfits if you prefer. While there is no pressure to do two different wardrobe looks, many mothers like to do so.

An outdoor maternity session, especially in beautiful Houston Texas, is never a bad way to spend my evening. As a photographer, I enjoy photographing maternity sessions because aside from my portraiture work, I'm also a mama and wife. My three little girls are what make my heart beat, and when photographing a pregnancy sessions for an expecting couple, I remember all the special details from my own pregnancies. This includes feeling little one kick, imagining what baby's, and of course yearning to hold them. 9 months does go by quickly but we can all agree meeting baby is the best moment!

As you can see, this couple makes my job super easy. They're laid back and really took direction well. I do encourage your spouses to participate in the maternity session so we may celebrate your baby bump. Through golden light and stunning locations, we spend about an hour together in which I capture you as you are. This location, for instance, is in Cypress near a neighborhood called Coles Crossing. It is perfect for either family or maternity portraiture thanks to the green foliage, rustic bridge and welcoming walking trails. 

The winters colors are amazing! Sometimes expecting mothers tell me they're unsure what to wear; they want to feel comfortable though also look lovely for their portraits. I encourage you to wear attire that reflects your own personal tastes and style whether the wardrobe be a flowy gown or simply leggings and a classic cardigan. No matter the choice, it's nice when the outfit is form fitting so we may show the baby bump well. Moreover, maternity sessions typically take place when your bump is about 33 weeks along. This ensures you're comfortable and that your bump is large enough to be shown off. After all, baby bump is the star here!
